Fashion is art. It is just a pity that a catwalk show only takes around fifteen minutes to watch. And that it can be so soon forgotten. What about a brief overview of the fashion year 2017?
The photographers of Reuters News Agency always succeed in making beautiful photos, with a great eye for detail. (To see all the pictures, please take a look at the website of Reuters.)
The ready-to-wear collection of the eccentric duo Dolce & Gabbana was inspired by the Queen Of Hearts of a set of playing cards and love. Because love is everywhere, Gabbana stated in Vogue. Even in exotic fruit and cheerful sunglasses. (Photo: Alessandro Garofalo/Reuters)
In 2017, it is exactly 20 years ago that the Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace was shot in front of his house in Miami Beach. He was 50 years old. Gianni was a genius and an icon says Donatella Versace. With this fashion show Donatella brings homage to her brother. Therefore, she went through the house archives looking for his most iconic designs and prints.
But during his career, Gianni also elevated some models to real supermodels, with an almost godlike status. The grand finale was presented by five of Giannis famous models: Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Shiffer, Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni. All dressed in the metallic mesh cocktail dress that made Gianni unforgettable. After the show, Donatella got a standing ovation. (Photos: Stefano Rellandini/Reuters)
Things go really fast for the young London designer Richard Quinn. After graduating from the reputed fashion school Central Saint Martins in 2016, he started his namesake label. This year, he won the H&M Design Award. In addition he designed an exclusive collection for the Swedish retailer. The summer collection of 2018 was a collaboration with the London luxury department store Liberty. The starting point of this collection were the small flower prints typical for the Liberty fabrics . Quinn gave the prints a modern face-lift, and made the flowers bigger and bolder. (Photo: Mary Turner/Reuters)

In Paris, the queen of punk Vivienne Westwood showed off her best. Think of models wrapped up in duvets. Or creations with an included fitting room. I’m always curious to know what the 76-year-old Westwood will snatch out of her sock next time. (Photo: Charles Platiau/Reuters)
